* Colorado - USA

Passados exatos dois anos, aqui estou eu novamente escrevendo e finalmente viajando de novo. Estava com uma saudade enorme de pegar a estrada assim do jeito que eu gosto, sozinho, sem rumo e da forma mais barata possível. Dessa vez aproveitei uma promocão de passagem aérea e vim para Denver, cidade capital do estado de Colorado, nos Estados Unidos.

"A história de Denver tem início em 1858, com a descoberta de ouro na região, que provocou forte corrente migratória e permitiu o estabelecimento dos primeiros núcleos de colonização. Um deles, fundado em 1860, recebeu o nome de Saint-Charles, mais tarde substituído por Denver, em homenagem ao general James Denver, governador do território. O núcleo tornou-se grande centro extrativo de prata e abastecedor dos campos de mineração, ao longo das regiões montanhosas. Com a integração do Colorado à federação, tornou-se capital em 1867" (Wikipedia)

Chegando em Denver, peguei um carro alugado e fui para o centro da cidade. Andei um pouco pela rua principal, 16th Street Mall, onde pedestres transitam pelas diversas lojas e estabelecimentos nas extremidades ao longo da rua e que no meio, possui bancos para se sentar, árvores, quiosques vendendo comidas e até pianos espalhados na calçada para qualquer pessoa que queira parar ali e tocar. 

Parei no centro turístico de Denver para pegar mais algumas informacões e planejar o que eu iria fazer nos próximos dias e então iniciei minha jornada indo para um lugar próximo chamado "Red Rocks Park".

Red rocks é uma região montanhosa que leva esse nome por suas pedras arenosas e em tons avermelhados ao longo de todo o vale. O local é também muito conhecido por seu anfiteatro, Red Rock Amphitheatre, no meio das montanhas, local esse que já foi palco de shows de grandes nomes da música como Beatles, U2, Jimi Hendrix, etc. 

Voltando para Denver, parei para tomar um drink em um bar chamado "El Chapultepec". Aberto em 1933, o pequeno bar já recebeu em sua história nomes renomados do Jazz inclusive Frank Sinatra. 

Além disso, Jack Kerouac, escritor do best seller On the Road, frequentou o lugar diversas noites para curtir uma boa música com amigos no auge da geração Beat. Noites essas relatadas em seu livro pelo personagem autobiográfico Sal Paradise. 

No bar, uma banda se apresentava e a cantora era sensacional. Um lugar muito simples com um simpático bartender e um pequeno público empolgado com o show. 

Feito isso fui em mais alguns bares da cidade e depois encontrei um lugar para estacionar o carro e dormir. Sim, não consegui encontrar nenhuma pessoa do couchsurfing e como essa viagem tem que ser com o mínimo de gastos possível, essa foi a solução, a qual eu recomendo para qualquer pessoa que quer viajar sem gastar muito dinheiro.

Exactly two years ago, here I am writing and finally traveling again. I missed a lot to hit the road the way I like, alone, adrift in the cheapest way possible. This time I took a promotional flight ticket and came to Denver, the capital city of the state of Colorado, in the United States.

Arriving in Denver, I picked up a rental car and went to the city center. I walked around at the main street of the city, the 16th Street Mall, where pedestrians pass through various shops and establishments along the sides of the street and in the middle, has benches to sit, trees, kiosks, food trucks and even pianos along the sidewalk for anyone who wants to give it a try.

I stopped in Denver touristic center to get some more information and plan what I was going to do in the coming days and then started my journey going to a place nearby called "Red Rocks Park".

Red Rocks, is a mountainous region that takes its name from its sandstone and reddish tones throughout the valley. The place is also well known for its amphitheatre, the Red Rock Amphitheatre, located in the middle of the mountains, this place that has hosted concerts by big names in music like Beatles, U2, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

Back to Denver, I stopped for a drink at a bar called "El Chapultepec." Opened in 1933, the small bar has received in its history renowned names of jazz including Frank Sinatra.

In addition, Jack Kerouac, best selling author of On the Road, attended the place several nights to enjoy good music with friends at the height of the Beat generation. Nights those reported in his book, by the autobiographical character Sal Paradise.

In the bar, a band performed and the singer was sensational. A very simple place with a friendly bartender and a small audience excited about the show.

I went to a few more bars in town and then found a place to park the car and sleep. Yes, I could not find any person of Couchsurfing and since this trip has to be low cost, this was the solution, which I recommend to anyone who wants to travel without spending much money.
